Applications under the Styrian Building Code
Section 10 of the Styrian Law on the Preservation of the Historic Town of Graz 2008 (GAEG) provides that a written application shall be filed to grant a permit for new buildings, additions, extensions and conversions that require a permit and are subject to a notification obligation under the Styrian Building Code, but also for those that only require a permit under the GAEG. The application for a building permit shall also be deemed to be an application under the GAEG.
The following must be enclosed with the application:
- An additional copy of the construction plans that are required under the Styrian Building Code; in the case of projects that are exempt from a building permit, three copies of the plans required for appraisal shall be submitted.
- Photos of the subject of the permit that also show the neighbouring structures and the surroundings.
- True to scale aerial photographs where building measures are to be performed on roofs or on the roof membrane.
- In the case of façade renovations that are (one of) the reason(s) for the protection status of a structure, an expert opinion from a conservator about the façade material must be included.
- Information on materials, colour scheme, etc. in the building description of the intended construction project.
- Other forms of presentation that are conducive to the appraisal.
The documents shall be submitted to the Building and Facilities Authority.
During the building procedure, the documents will be forwarded to the Historic Town Expert Commission for assessment. The Historic Town Expert Commission will draw up an expert opinion for the Building Authority. The appraisal of submissions already positively assessed in a preliminary inquiry will be swift and positive, provided they are identical to the preliminary inquiry.
