Culture and Art Promotion
Culture Art Promotion
The State of Styria provides funding for art and culture on the basis of the Styrian Culture and Arts Promotion Act 2005; some types of funding are subject to specific guidelines and policies.
What can be funded?
In accordance with the Styrian Culture and Arts Promotion Act, funding is provided for intellectual and creative, for producing and reproducing cultural activities and performances as well as for engagement with the arts and culture.
For additional funding purposes, please refer to the various funding policies.
Financial support is provided to the design, development, production, and implementation of a wide variety of cultural and artistic projects. These initiatives should spark the interest of people and be accessible to the general public. A prerequisite in all of this is a concrete reference to Styria or to the Styrian artistic and cultural scene. This reference may be in terms of the topic, people or institutions. This means that Styria may be the venue for an arts production, or that a project could be of special relevance for the Styrian art and culture scene.
The areas that are eligible for financial support are defined by law:
- Visual arts, new media and architectural design
- Performing Arts
- Film
- Literature
- Music, musical theatre and sound art
- General folk culture
- Museums
- Monument preservation and cultural assets
Both natural and legal persons can apply for funding.
The funding entity focuses on the further sustainable development of contemporary art and contemporary culture in a regional, national and international context in all areas of funding. Of course, this also includes digital art forms, cross-disciplinary and theoretical ideas and concepts, ideas of artistic exploration and concepts or ideas that communicate art and culture.
Applications must be made in writing and can be submitted online.
