With its responsibility for Culture and Europe, Department 9 is in charge of a broad and multi-faceted field of activity. As part of our activities, we provide information to regional, national and international representatives of art and culture, creative artists, people working in (folk) culture, people interested in Europe and European affairs and our international relations; we offer expert services and provide support to them out of goodwill.

The two units dealing with the cultural affairs of the State of Styria are called 
Shareholdings and International Culture and Art, Cultural Heritage, Folk Life and Folk Art.

Governor of Styria Mario Kunasek is the member of the Styrian Government in charge of the Department Culture,r esponsible for all political affairs of Folk Culture (Volkskultur) and the State Councilor Karlheinz Kornhäusl is currently the member of the Styrian Government in charge of the Department Culture for all politcal affairs of Culture.
